January 22, 2026: The Glades—Key Faction
While the Glades are home to many affluent and influential people, none of them presides over the others in any meaningful sense. Certainly each of the rich landholders rules over their own manorial estate, but no one person is in charge of the roads and common areas—not that most of the wealthy residents spends time there anyway except in transit to and from their homes. There are, however, guards that patrol the roads and watch for dangers and troublemakers, and outside the inhabitants' estates those are probably the primary authority figures in the Glades.
Although the city guard does have a presence in the Glades, most of its residents don't put their full trust in these public servants, and hire their own private security to supplement what the city provides. Though a few Gladers rely on different companies, the private security firm most widely employed there is the Silver Banner, readily recognizeable by the glittering sashes its employees wear, and it is Silver Banner staff who make up most of the guards in the Glades. The leader of the Silver Banner is a no-nonsense veteran of the Ghost Wars named Meridem Seridor. Seridor has an office in the Village Center where she deals with administrative matters, but she likes to take daily shifts patrolling the Glades personally to keep her feet on the ground and make sure she stays current with her personal knowledge of the area.
Meridem Seridor is a muscular woman with leathery brown skin crossed with multiple scars, the most visible being a large diagonal scar that extends from her left cheek down across her chin. She keeps her hair short except for a long braided strand on each side of her face that she decorates with beads, her only nod to personal ornamentation. Seridor's speech is terse and to the point and she gives the impression of interrogating her interlocutors even when she's not. In her capacity as the head of the Silver Banner, she wears the group's customary dark gray uniform and glittering sash, but with additional medals and epaulets to mark her rank.
